Buda Castle
There's a cable-car to the castle to save a long hike up the hill |
Budapest Market
I visited this market with Charles and Valerie. We were all mightily impressed with its size, cleanliness and variety and quality of produce.
The House of Terror
This is a sombre yet compelling museum established as a memorial to the hundreds of victims tortured and murdered in the building. It operated from 1937 to 1956 as a secret police interrogation centre, first for the nazis and then for the communists. The basement had been converted to a mini-jail where most of these atrocities took place. Photos of the victims line the outside of the building and the central atrium, inside.
