Diamond Princess - Japan cruises - September 2014 - Post 5

Nagasaki

Having spent a couple of months here in 1982 and 1984 for the delivery then guarantee dry dock of River Boyne, this was the highlight of the cruise for me. Several other passengers I spoke to also nominated Nagasaki as their favourite port of the cruise.
New build liquid gas carriers at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' shipyard.
Diamond Princess at the new cruise ship terminal.

The hotel with the green roof was one that I stayed in for several weeks in 1984.

Colourful local shops.
Diamond Princess' port of registry reverted to London during her latest refit. Good to see the Red Duster again!
This middle-school brass band played for us at departure. They were excellent.

Thrusting off the berth.

This dock was where I first saw the nearly completed River Boyne in September 1982.

This outer harbour shipyard is where we came for the guarantee dry dock in January 1984.
