Carnival Legend - April 2015 - Post 1

On April 20th I boarded Carnival Legend in Sydney for 18 nights of a repositioning voyage to the US. The ship called at Noumea, Port Denarau, Papeete, Moorea, Bora Bora and Honolulu, where I disembarked and stayed for 2 days before flying home. It was a great cruise, a bonus being dear friends Charles and Valerie being on board and meeting new friends, Phil and Fi who were also great company.
The weather was good apart from the first night out of Sydney which was very rough. The service on board was good, but like many ships seemed a bit short-staffed at times. Food was generally very good. As expected, the ship's decor was garish, in a Miami / Las Vegas style.

Tendering ashore with Charles for a few convivials at Port Denarau, Fiji.
Charles on the tender.

Sunset from my balcony.

My comfortable cabin.

Captain La Fauci and me on the bridge. He's a Sicilian, now living in UK.

Papeete

Approaching the cruise piers. These are new from when I joined QE2 here in 1999.

Like many islands, Papeete looks much more attractive from the ship than the shore.
