Diamond Princess - Japan cruises - September 2014 - Post 8 (Final)

Some photos from around the ship.

My cabin was one of several new ones added during the ship's mid-year refit in Singapore.

Gedde, one of the ever friendly, obliging and efficient bar staff.
Sunset off the Japanese coast.
This spa area is part of a Japanese bath house complex added during the last refit.

What a life!
Another of the great bar staff.
In Sabatini's, the speciality Italian restaurant on board. Always an excellent meal here.

One of the ship's photographers gave a very interesting session on portrait photography.

I was pleased to get an invitation to the '40 Most Travelled Passengers' lunch.

Aomori

Tempura lunch in a local restaurant.

This ex railway and passenger ferry is now a museum ship.
The Captain's spartan accommodation.

Back to Yokohama then Tokyo, Singapore and home.

The very comfortable N'Ex Yokohama - Tokyo - Narita express train.
It's very pleasing to see the powers that be here are considerate to hobbyist photographers as evidenced by these photography slots all along the fence on the observation deck.

I love this Kirin beer pouring machine in the ANA lounge. Evey home should have one!

After a day long wait at the airport, finally on to the plane for the evening flight to Singapore.
Departing Singapore - next stop Melbourne!

Kushiro

Not much at this port but these fresh deep fried cod fish cakes with a light mustard sauce were excellent.
Otaru

On the wharf at Otaru. This was an enjoyable port.

A very pleasant spot for lunch.

The private apartment ship The World - I've seen her in Melbourne a couple of times.

Hakodate

These old red brick warehouses have been converted into tourist shops and the like.
Old US letter boxes.
Like most of these northern Japanese ports there is a large fish market here.

These oysters looked tempting but as I was flying home in a couple of days' time, I decided not to risk them.
